Kootu curry for onam sadhya


Ingredients

1. Yam - 300 g
2. Ashgourd - 250 g
3. Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
4. Pepper powder - 1 tsp
5. Chilli powder - 2 tsp
6. Chana dal - 100 g
7. Salt as required.
8. Jaggery - 1 tbsp
9. Grated coconut - 1/2 of a coconut
 Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
10. Oil - 2 tsp
11. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 2 tsp
Grated coconut - 1/2 of a coconut
Curry leaves - 2 sprigs




Directions

Cook chana dal and keep aside. Cook yam, ashgourd, turmeric powder, pepper powder, chilli powder,  When it is cooked well, add chana dal. Now grind the 9th ingredients. Add ground ingredients, salt, and jaggery to the curry and mix well.

Heat oil in a pan, add 11th ingredients and season the curry.

  2. Never made kootu with yam. THough we do use a lot of yam in konkani coconut gravy dishes
